Monday, April 17, 2006 A Little Breather, Yeah!!! Assalamualaikum everyone, Finally, after a very long period of hard work here in this office, trying our very best to catch the deadline for design submission, we did it. :D All cheer to my team. Not that it was a perfect submission for we do expect to be haunted by the design for at least another week or two (it is the cycle, you do expect some modifications are required here and there), it is the feeling of delivering your very best over the seemingly impossible timeline that really satisfied us. The thought of having a huge burden lift off your back is surreal, as if you are the poor hunchback who turned prince charming on a finger snap, in a fairy tale of childhood years (if there is such a fairytale of course :p ). On paper, it is my very first design submission as a CAD supervisor. I do felt the pressure of getting it right first time, but what is more important is to give a shining example to my fresh subordinates of what I do expect out of them when it comes to work. Absolute commitment on delivering the best, the willingness to put on long hours in getting everything right, and the sense of belonging in the work they do. I believe I gave that. To be exact, the kind of commitment that has 'MC'ed me for two days for overstressed myself at work. Workaholic yes I am, but for me, that is the price to pay if U really wished for the work to be done right. Superior's involvement is absolute, not just in giving orders and instructions, U should also get your hands dirty and work together in making the dateline. That's how I perceived my new role in the office. On a personal note, I am still very much on a learning curve. Still trying to juggle every single responsibility of mine in a perfect harmony. To be a boss, a friend, a pal, a lover, a son, a brother, and a nice human being, takes a lot of effort (not necessarily in that order though :) ). As Shakespeare put it, "To be or not to be..." nothing happens if we just sit idly doing nothing, we needs to work it out to get it happens. Be it in working life or personal life, a continuous effort in trying to be the best ones could be is a must, and I do hope for every extra day of my life, I will succeed in doing so. So does U guys. Life as I view it, is too precious to be spent on thinking all the what-ifs without taking a concrete action. Stop thinking and start doing something about it. What-ifs are for engineers who are tweaking their design in a simulator, not for U and Me who are trying to make the most out of a short life. By taking the first step, we are making sure of something,.. even if the outcome is not as sweet or as great as we intend it to be, that first step will ensure we learn something which will benefit us in the long run. Things happened for a reason, and God works in mysterious ways, as long as we have that faith in us, I strongly believe, we will do fine. :D So people, lets have a courage to do just that, stop doubting things, and start making something. Have A Nice Day (^,^) nesloice walks through at 4:17 PM. |
