Friday, March 31, 2006 R-E-S-P-E-C-T Assalamualaikum, people... Wow, this must be the longest ever dormant period of this blogpage of mine, close to 40 days huh?! Well, what can I say, except work has been very demanding lately. The idea and the will to write is there, but to allocate a little time in between works to write something here, is almost as hard as finding a needle in a sea of sand,.. a nearly impossible ordeal. With great powers, comes great responsibility. Sure it does, for I am feeling more and more like a circus clown, juggling oranges and apples, and perhaps eggs, in unison. In between design-drawing, supervising, trouble-checking, cross-verifying, system administrating, documenting and meeting, I find it almost choke me to dead to deliver what is expected of me. All that and coupled with my desire to allocate a little private time with those dear to my heart, makes me a very tired, very stressed and sometime in the morning, a very un-motivated workaholic. Contradicts huh?! But that's just me. But really, I just couldn't resist to blog about this thing in my head. Something I've encountered recently, which I refused to react on until I could think clearly of it. It makes me think of my schooldays years. If I ever learned something on human-management during my time in RMC, it is about RESPECT. It is something you give others, without the expectation of getting it back. For respect is earned, not demanded. I pay respects wherever, whom-ever and whenever respect is due. And it is due because your act deserved it, not because your position bound for it. So it is a sad state, when you are on high places, just because you didn't like the out loud comment on your action, you responded or rather snapped, making a counter rebuttal which downright personal. For me, that is dictatorship, a ship (literally) which is bound to sink, very deep indeed. When people being so politically-correct in choosing the words in making their sincere comment, was responded with an act of disrespect and personally abusive answer from your part, that tiny little respect which existed early on would just evaporated. As a leader, as someone who has the power and position, you could simply reacted in a more acceptable manner. Being a leader is all about guiding and moving people towards a specified and agreed goal, so it is always important to make sure your subordinates could cooperate with you, even though they might not agree with you on personal terms. Being abusive leader could only drift you further away from your subordinates,.. definitely not a desired ground for anyone. Hence, for that special someone, if you ever reads my blog, take this writing as my open-answer for your actions. It is OK to do something to leave a mark of your leadership for next generation to talk about, but it would be a much nicer move on your part to sustain the togetherness that has bound us all. And to achieve that, giving respect to all is utmost importance. OK peps, that's all for now, excuse my nags. Have A Nice Day (^,^) nesloice walks through at 4:52 PM. |
