Tuesday, February 21, 2006 Need to get this out... Assalamualaikum, people... Just one word as starter,... yes U get it right peps, SORRY... I truly am, though as boring as it sounded,.. I am very busy currently. A lot of work has piled up, a lot of datelines missed, and a string of stress-induced headaches struck. Am not trying to make up excuses, but that is the real story of why this blog of mine has been somehow neglected of sorts. And given the facts that I only have an access for PC in the office (do not own a laptop as yet), it is hard to prepare a decent entry. A dear friend tagged me, some time ago, a rather nostalgic and interesting tags, but am not going to answer it this time around. Because the thing with tags,.. I love it since one way or the other it does provide some insight of oneself which I most of the time, neglect or simply does not pay attention to. But, a good tags is only as good as the input U put into it, so that takes time, and time definitely not one of my luxury :( Rather, I'd like to point out a very interesting fact of mismanagement, that happened recently. It is about the MSC status, and the effectiveness of Cyberjaya as a hub for all things "ICT". Sometime last week, MDC, the watch-dog of the MSC and Cyberjaya project, awarded KL Sentral the privilege of setting up another "ICT" hub, right in the center of Kuala Lumpur. Though it is camouflaged by the MSC Cybercentre status, and was said not to be a direct competitor with Cyberjaya, but given the development status of Cyberjaya currently (pretty much a cowboy town in my perspective, come around on weekend and U will get my point),.. who in the right set of mind, would fancy Cyberjaya when KL Sentral is much more connected, more developed and easily accessible? Excerpt from Business Section, theStar Online: "Cybercentre status is envisaged to appeal to tech companies that want closer and faster access to their clients in the city" What does that sentence implies? So simple really. To a normal Joe like U and me, it stated the fact that Cyberjaya is a big failure. It is far away from potential clients, it is tedious to access by any means, and simply un-attractive. If we really want to make MSC and Cyberjaya a success story, we should try to emulate or better yet, carbon-copy Bangalore and Dubai, which operates on the same basis as Cyberjaya, but by far a greater success. Why do they succeed and we failed? The answer lies in the management and the effort. And honestly, given the action taken by MDC lately, I reckon the new CEO will be the answer for a better MSC project. First phase, second phase, N-th phase, it all does not matter, if the real essences of a success for such an ambitious project are overlooked, be it purposely or otherwise. Grand ideas like MSC require management who are dead-serious about making it a success, who really strive to provide the most appealing high-tech environment to lure potential customers, and who really takes pride in the project. Sadly, I do not sees these effort, even after I worked in Cyberjaya for close to three(3) years now. I am still waiting for the Sports Complex, the Mosque, the lush greenery surrounding, the 'smart' town... Been so long, yet am still waiting. Honestly, I am so "MALU" to tell people about Cyberjaya. Nothing that is really stand out and worth to be proud of. Enough said on that matter. Now, for those who are free this Sunday morning, and would like to involve in some kind of 'intelligent' discussion while mingle with new friends, fell free to come over to Rumah Pena, KL. Yours truly is the moderator for the forum :D OK peps, that's all for now. Have A Nice Day (^,^) nesloice walks through at 3:16 PM. |
