Tuesday, December 13, 2005 A Boring Rants, as Usual-lah Assalamualaikum, people... This past few weeks must has been the busiest and the most hectic weeks in the office. Never in my experience of working in the company that December would be such a fast-paced and mentally demanding time-of-the-year as it has been in this few weeks. Normally, December is the time where we tidy up the project documentation and doing backups, and everything is so not-urgent that we practically cruising in office hours. A very cheerful and laid back environment, lots of jokes etc. Holiday moods is in the air... and what a refreshing air it was... This year however, everything changed. By planning, we are suppose to start working on the new project by next week, and I was supposed to start a training session on the designers twice a week for the next two months or so. Everyone was assign to two projects, which is due to be completed by April 2006. The reason for all this tight planning, simply because we (or to be politically correct, the management kings) had decided to allocate a three months timeframe on the 2006 for technological collaboration with outsiders. The only way for us, mere mortal engineers, to be able to be a part of that "technological thingy" is to clear up all our own internal project by April next year. Hence the rush. My personal opinion on it? It is a great effort to have a join collaboration project with others, since we would learn much more by having a first hand involvement on the new advancement in technology. The only downside of it is the timeframe. To have it commence on the next April, is practically squeezing every single drop of our brain fluids, so to speak. But I guessed that would be the price to pay when U are working in a small tech company with a huge ambition. People say, engineers works wonders when they are put to great constrains,... well, somehow I agree to that. Maybe the managers are banking on this factor when they setup the plan. Lets hope the get it right :D Another thing, I had covered a distance of more than a thousands km going north, in just two days last fortnight, and another 250+ km going south last weekend, going for my friends wedding. A very tiring journey, but nevertheless worthwhile. I had always enjoy places, experience different environment, so this 'paksa-rela' kind of trip really helps in enrich my travelling experience. It just that to travel all alone is a little letdown,... no co-driver to keep me company and no travel-mate to share the experience. Ni yg nak kena cari teman permanent ni, ahahahaha. Ok people, that's all for now, have a nice day. nesloice walks through at 4:10 PM. |
