Friday, April 22, 2005 KLD Reports, Part Two: Day 2 --- from previous post --- It was a bright sunny day. We started the day with morning jogging across the same secondary forest towards a Grand-Canyon-lookalike area, before having our breakfast. Afterward, with basic guidance from the camp's instructors, we began the construction of our very own tube-tire-and-bamboo raft. Every group was further divided into two group of 4 or five people, and assigned 10 bamboo sticks, 6 long ones and 4 short ones. We were also given 6 inflated tire-tubes (pelampung daa...) and some strings. The assignment is simple, design and implement a raft that is strong enough to carry all the members, and fast enough to sail over the water and win the race. Being creative, we, the DBA dugongs, created two identical raft which we proudly claimed to be the most aerodynamic (or hydrodynamic in this case)... In fact the instructors does agreed the raft could be a very fast racer, although they admit to some point, we might suffer with the navigational aspect of it (it's the short bamboo sticks, it was supposed to be tie on the top tier as opposed to lower tier, which increased the resistance in water. We didn't know then, but now we do). Too late to do any changes, we decided to carry on with it and see how it actually performs on the water. Everyone has to be in the water before the race kick-off. The race started, everyone climbed up their respective raft, and DBA-1, my raft, is racing head-to-head with Morrok-1(tokRimau and co) and Cilipadi-1(Kacang and co). DBA-2 was left behind with the catching pack, all due to overload factor of their raft (Diman couldn't drag himself up the raft on the first try, too heavy... Diman, U seriously need to lose some weight :p). It was interesting race upfront, but to all of our effort, we just couldn't get it over Cilipadi-1 which was expertly holding us back on every corner,... They just lock us behind, much like what Sete Gibernau did to Valentino Rossi on most of the MotoGP opening race this year. It was really exhausting, and frustrating to be kept behind on this close encounter. Morrok-1 was left all alone upfront until they eventually used up all of their energy, hence Cilipadi-1 and DBA-1 took over. Neck-to-neck it is to the finish line, but kudos to Kacang and company, Cilipadi-1 hit the shore first. DBA-1 came in second and Morrok-1 finish third. After the race, everyone was so tired but some of us still spent more time in the water, 'dugong-duging' again. Then it was lunchtime, prayer's time and sleep-like-a-baby time until about 4pm where we gathered again for the War Game. The objective of the game is to crawl in the water, hit the opponents with the bullets (fresh chicken eggs) to 'kill' them, then bring down the trophy (a bottle hanged on a tree in the centre of the warzone) either by sandwiching four members of the team, one on top of the other, to reach the bottle, or in the case of insufficient human resource (everyone else died, only The General is left), the trophy will need to be brought down by using only legs while laying on the back. Which is not an easy feat as Aziz would testify since he has short legs, a true disadvantage when U need to compete with someone with a longer legs as Azmir(Mamak). Everyone was so excited, having our face painted with some mud, singing the 'Inilah Barisan Jalan' song, and walk towards the warzone, which is actually some swamp with knee-high water and a lot of small trees scattered around. Initially the game was abandoned due to pouring rain, and we all walked back frustratedly to the camp and ended up singing in-choir all kind of songs following ND's guitar beat. But thank God, after about an hour, the rain subdued and we walked back to the warzone, albeit this time, some of us had effectively clean-up their face, no more brutal-ready-to-war look. DBA was earliest to be kick out of the game in round one, due to effective ambush on the General, me, by WkDin. I really did not see it coming, but since the rules says: If General is killed, then the whole team is dead, so we are out. Good work of TokRimau who lured me out only to be killed >:( DBA managed to win the 2nd round, although some unsightful incident did happened. It all happened in the mood of competition, so nobody should left to be blamed for it. I just want to say sorry to everyone because I did involved in the scene. Sometime, a big slap on the face or shoulder is the best wake-up call in this kind of situation, atleast it could bring me back to reality and start to observe some basic 'hukum-hakam' :( I don't want to elaborate on the incident, suffice to say, it was enough for the KLD Authorities to begin a review on the rules of the War Game as to not allowed such incident to re-occur in the future. Out of four rounds, Cilipadi won 2 of them, which makes them the overall winner of the War Game. For the night, it was the "Sketsa". Every team is required to come out with a short one-scene-play for a duration of five to ten minutes, elaborating on the theme: "Jiwa Kacau and Jiwa Kental". They were allocated 30 minutes for preparation, and the performance would be judged by guest judges, five of camp's instructors. The performance was entertaining and hilarious, and this time, with a twisted story of a homo-love between a man with six kids and a teenager, coupled with 'selamba' acting of the members, DBA managed to come out on top, winning The Best Play, The Best Actor and The Best Actress honours. Kudos to Basri for such a brave idea, and to Pulut and KakYah for their performance. For all who still want to know, I was the one who played the character of the homo kid, hahahahah. End of day two... --- To Be Continued, Again --- nesloice walks through at 10:52 AM. |
