Wednesday, April 20, 2005 KLD Reports, Part One: Day 1 Assalamualaikum, friends,.. Alright people, finally I had some time to write an entry... Sigh :( There's some work review which needs to be completed A.S.A.P and some design modifications which is urgent-in-nature to be done before my boss come back from his Japan's trip, which successfully keep me away from writing in this blog, but now, it is all been done and I can now concentrate in writing the entry. As U guys would have known by now, I had been to KLD (Kem Lambaian Danau, in Kg Chinchin, Melaka) last weekend together with Mr Kacang for the GJ's Projek Basah 2.0. For those who doesn't have a single clue of what KLD is, KLD is something like OBS, in which it acts as a motivational-plus-teamwork-plus-outdoor camp, but on a far less cost than OBS (RM90 vs RM1K), and a lot more fun, especially if U are not as fit as an athlete or as agile as a squirrel, >:) On that Friday morning, I waited for Langsatz and the gang to show up at around 0730, but as usual, abide by Malaysian Time, they only managed to get to my place somewhere around 0815 (we made a deal to carpool). Which is a blessing since Kacang and I both, had only finished packing up our stuff by 8 o'clock. After transferring all the bags into my car, we left for breakfast in Desa Serdang, then managed to stop at some shops to buy some utensils as required by Projek Basah's organizing committee (read: Basri). At around 0940, we all excitedly hit the road, taking the UPM entrance to PLUS highway, hence began our journey... Of all the five people in my car that morning (Kacang, Salina, Munirah, Langsatz and Me), only Salina and Langsatz had been to KLD before. Therefore despite not knowing the proper road to get to Kg Chinchin, Melaka, where KLD is situated, I had confidently drove the car, fully relies on the experience of this two girl to get us there. We reached Kg Chinchin around 11 in the morning, but then, feared that it might get too early to check-in and sympathized with the girls' request to buy some sunblocks and hats (girls... Appearance is everything), we went to Jasin town and did some last minute shopping. The girls bought some sunblock lotion and hats, Kacang bought a hat, which makes him looks more-and-more like an 'apek', and I bought RM50 prepaid top-up for my phone. Now what do that has to do with Projek Basah U wonder, not that I am gonna spent my time at KLD talking on the phone, but due to personal reasons, I do find it necessary. Jiwa Kacau, Maa... When we finally check-in at KLD, it is already 12 something. No other GJ's is around yet, so we just give the camp a site visit. Of all the thing, the huge lake is really excites me. I never do any water activities in a lake before, and we were promised to do Rafting and Kayaking this time around, so that's a lot of water adventure, and a lot of time in the sun as well. By 1230, Basri and the gang arrived. After having a quick lunch prepared by KLD's cook, we the guys, set off to Kg Chinchin's mosque for Friday prayer. After prayer, everyone just sleeps, talks or do something to kill time until most of the participant finally check-in for the adventure. Me? I do neither, instead I spent my time playing chess against Munirah and Salina, while listen to Mush, Basri and others chit-chat and 'kutuk-kutuk'. Until around 1600 hrs, about half of the promised participants for this Projek Basah had arrived, so rather than start the Projek Basah 2.0 officially on the night, as earlier planned, we opted for the evening kickoff, with the first activity on the card is Obstacle Course. Everyone changed to their worst, lousiest shirts and pants, since this is one activity where getting dirty is cool, and play mud and get wet all over is very much sought after. And it is all muddy and wet alright, skid down the banks on our ass, then walk in the water at the shallow part of the lakeside, before doing some monkey-hanged training, some balancing act on the fallen tree trunk, some climbing over stair-like wall, some cross-country jogs, some commando crawl, and the best of all, sliding down a 20-over foot high 'gelungsur' into a 3-foot deep mudpool. We practically rinsed ourselves in the mudpool from hair to toenail, and some unlucky friends even suffer from the inertia effect, where the mud had find it's way up their nostril and almost choked them. Yuck, and pity them. But it's really, really fun nonetheless. Then its the little rock-climbing task, and another round of 'mengharung air' before we come to the end of the course, caterpillar crawl in between standing tires. A 50 minutes ordeal ended with everyone jumped into the lake to wash themselves, and most of the guys really get into the act by performing all kind of jumping and backflipping into the water. The 'dugong-duging' session, whatelse. On the night, we officially divided into three groups with respect to colours. I was assigned to green group, and we called ourselves, DBA, short for "Dugong Bersimpuh Ayu". Our group motto: "Alam Kawan Kita", which is very appropriate given our nickname mostly has something to do with nature and its products (dugong, madulebah, delima, pulut, nesloice). The other member of my group are Diman, Has and KakYah. Kacang, Munirah and Langsatz was assigned to red group (Cilipadi), while Salina assigned to yellow group (Morrok). For this Icebreaking Session, we were required to come out with a group cheers, and involved in some games and puzzle trivias. DBA's cheers, is a combination of Diman's Dragonball act, Basri's 70's ago-go moves, a little hakka-like foot stomping and our motto. It is very simple, but we are very proud of it. To wrap-up the icebreaking session, and to really build our self confident, hence the 'Jiwa Kental', we were required to go for a Night-Walk, in which we move to the starting point in group (about 1km away for the camp in the secondary forest), but asked to get back to the camp on our own, using the other route, without any maps, lights or guidance... As usual, mock ghosts are always expected in this kind of activity. I am the first person to be sent out for the walk back. I met all kind of ghost on my way back, the two covered-in-white-bed-sheet-and-look-like-'batu nisan' ghost, the sounded-like-stray-dog-or-wild-boar-by-the-road ghosts and the funniest of all, the smoking-dunhill-while-chatting-with-friends ghost. I just grinned at them, give a salute, and keep walking. After the walk, everyone went to sleep, some in the tent, some in the cabin, and some, like me, sleep in the hall. Our tent is a little damp due to the rain on that evening, so I figure it is better to sleep at the hall, atleast I could stay away from Pneumanic Trigger. --- To Be Continued --- nesloice walks through at 7:40 PM. |
